Senior Data Engineer (Azure) – Remote from Tunisia

About the role

K-LAGAN is looking for a Senior Data Engineer (Azure) to join its team and contribute to high-impact cloud data initiatives. You will build, scale and maintain data architectures, pipelines and analytical solutions in an enterprise cloud environment. The position supports Spain remotely from Tunisia as a full-time independent contractor, working on a full-time schedule aligned with Tunisia's time zone.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes using Azure-native technologies.
• Develop end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows, orchestrating batch and real-time streaming processes for analytics and reporting.
• Provision and maintain cloud data infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, data governance and GDPR compliance.
• Write clean, modular, testable code (Python, PySpark, SQL) with automated tests and data quality checks.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate with data architects, software engineers, DevOps teams and business stakeholders in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban).

Required profile

• Solid track record as a Data Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python, PySpark and SQL.
• Deep practical knowledge of Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure SQL / Cosmos DB.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Experience designing relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing and query tuning.
• Advanced English (C1 level), spoken and written.
• Location: 100% remote, residency in Tunisia required.

• Real-time streaming frameworks (Kafka, Event Hubs).
• Delta Lake, Microsoft Fabric or other modern data stack tools.
• Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or Agile certifications.
