Senior Data Architect (Remote from Tunisia)

About the role

K-LAGAN is looking for a Senior Data Architect to join its team and lead the design, structure and evolution of enterprise cloud data platforms. You will define end-to-end data architectures, set data governance standards and guide engineering teams in building scalable, high-performance data systems. The position supports Spain remotely from Tunisia, on a full-time schedule aligned with Tunisia's time zone, as a contractor.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee the global data architecture strategy, designing Data Lakehouses, Data Meshes and Cloud Data Warehouses.
• Establish conceptual, logical and physical data models for operational and analytical systems.
• Evaluate, select and integrate cloud-native technologies and ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and real-time streaming (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Define data governance, MDM, data lineage, metadata management and compliance rules (GDPR, ISO, data privacy).
• Mentor data engineering, BI and analytics teams on architecture, design patterns and code quality.
• Work with tech leads, product owners and business leaders to turn strategy into architectural roadmaps.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Data Architect, Lead Data Engineer or Enterprise Architect managing large-scale data ecosystems.
• Deep architectural experience with Azure, AWS or GCP and stacks such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Expert knowledge of relational, dimensional (Kimball/Inmon) and Data Vault modeling, and NoSQL (document/graph).
• Experience with software engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), data pipeline orchestration and CI/CD for data.
• Fluent English (C1 level), spoken and written.
• Location: 100% remote, residency in Tunisia required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Data Mesh or Data Fabric patterns.
• Advanced streaming architectures (Apache Kafka, Event Hubs).
• Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Engineer, TOGAF or Databricks Certified Data Architect.
