AI-Native Software Engineering Director

About the role

Sparkrock is seeking an AI‑Native Software Engineering Director to shape the way its engineering teams build software in the AI era. This senior, fully‑remote position will create the operating system that embeds AI‑driven experiments, standards, metrics and coaching into everyday development and quality practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute and measure AI‑native development and quality engineering experiments.
• Identify bottlenecks where AI‑enhanced workflows can boost productivity, speed, developer experience or release confidence.
• Evaluate emerging AI engineering tools, coding agents, AI‑enabled IDEs, test‑generation and code‑review assistants.
• Develop and institutionalize AI‑native standards for coding, testing, documentation, refactoring, debugging and delivery.
• Define and maintain engineering quality bars, guardrails, workflow templates and best‑practice playbooks.
• Coach engineers and engineering leaders to adopt AI‑assisted practices that deliver measurable improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams or initiatives at a senior level.
• Deep enthusiasm for AI‑driven development and a track record of experimentation.
• Strong focus on software quality, reliability and measurable outcomes.
• Ability to influence and mentor engineers without relying on large reporting structures.

Required skills

• Experience with AI‑enabled development tools and platforms (e.g., coding agents, test‑generation tools, AI‑assisted code review).
• Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and quality engineering.
