Payroll Expert

About the role

Deel, an all-in-one payroll and HR platform for global teams, is looking for a Payroll Expert who acts as a regional subject matter expert. The role owns end-to-end payroll execution for specific countries or regions, requiring deep technical expertise in local payroll regulations, systems implementation and vendor management. It is the go-to resource for complex payroll matters and drives continuous improvement in payroll processes.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and select payroll software, incorporating Deel product technology requirements
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution in the region and in other trained countries
• Prepare and reconcile internal payroll reports, ensuring compliance with local tax authorities
• Own critical local payroll and HR processes, including involuntary deductions, employee onboarding and offboarding
• Schedule payroll expense collections and reconcile them to expenses
• Assess and improve rapid-growth processes while staying compliant
• Keep abreast of local regulatory and policy changes and communicate them across teams
• Provide expertise on local payroll and HR matters and answer complex payroll and HR questions from employees and clients

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution
• 5+ years of payroll and HR experience in the relevant country
• Strong working knowledge of local payroll and HR regulations and policies
• Strong verbal and written skills and ability to explain complex issues simply
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to lead and mentor junior team members

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of local payroll software solutions
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
• Strong proficiency in English
