Machine Build Automation and PLC Supervisor

About the role

Autoliv is looking for an experienced Machine Build Automation and PLC Supervisor to lead the automation and PLC activities that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient assembly and test systems for series production. You will support product and process development, drive continuous improvement, and guarantee compliance with technical and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the Machine Build Automation and PLC team, including scheduling, task allocation and coaching.
• Manage PLC systems – programming, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance – across assembly machines and test rigs.
• Oversee machine build projects from specification through FAT/SAT to hand‑over, ensuring milestones, quality, safety and documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for automation hardware, software and machine processes to improve OEE, reduce downtime and enhance product quality.
• Ensure process compliance with engineering specifications, safety regulations and company standards; lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate cross‑functional work with design, production, quality, maintenance and suppliers.
• Maintain technical documentation including PLC code repositories, electrical schematics, machine manuals and commissioning reports.
• Support capacity and change programmes during product launches and ramp‑up phases.

Required profile

• Technical qualification in electrical, automation, mechatronics or a related field (apprenticeship, HND, degree or equivalent experience).
• Typically 5+ years of experience in machine automation, PLC programming and commissioning.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
