Director, North Africa Region

About the role

The Director for North Africa will lead WWF’s conservation programme across Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Egypt, with the main office in Tunis. Reporting to the Regional Director Europe & North Africa, the role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight and external representation to drive impact at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of conservation projects on time, within scope and budget, complying with WWF and donor standards.
• Lead strategic planning, set national priorities aligned with global WWF goals and balance impact, risk and resources.
• Develop and maintain relationships with donors, governments, local communities and partners to secure funding and advance advocacy.
• Oversee finance, operations, risk management and compliance with WWF International policies and local regulations.
• Foster a high‑performance culture, providing coaching, mentorship and clear performance expectations for the senior management team.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of senior leadership experience, including at least five years in the North Africa region.
• Master’s degree in Business Management, International Relations, Development or a related field; a degree in environmental or conservation studies is a plus.
• Proven track record of designing and managing large‑scale conservation or development programmes with multi‑donor budgets.
• Strong communication abilities in English, Arabic and French, and experience partnering with donors and government agencies.
