Data Engineer and Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a recent graduate to own and operate a production data pipeline that feeds daily EU carbon and energy market analysis. You will work closely with analysts and clients, turning raw energy, emissions and policy data into reliable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, loading, monitoring).
• Integrate real‑time EU energy and carbon datasets such as gas flows (ENTSOG), power generation, industrial production (Eurostat), verified emissions (EUTL) and market data.
• Develop and maintain web scrapers for policy and regulatory sources, ensuring resilience to site changes.
• Process maritime emissions data by joining vessel tracking feeds with EU shipping compliance records.
• Deploy solutions using Python, Docker, AWS Lambda, Terraform and GitHub Actions.
• Translate analysts’ questions into actionable data sets and raise concerns when data quality does not support the analysis.
• Implement data quality guards to detect and prevent bad data.

Required profile

• Strong command of Python and SQL, able to write and defend complex pandas transformations and SQL queries.
• Hands‑on experience delivering an end‑to‑end data project (academic, side‑project or professional).
• Genuine curiosity about EU energy, carbon markets and environmental policy.
• Self‑directed and comfortable working remotely with full ownership of tasks.
• Fluent English for code, documentation and team communication.
• Interest in economics, climate policy or engineering is a plus.
