Undergraduate Hourly Teaching Assistant for MECH 305

About the role

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Colorado State University is looking for an undergraduate student to work hourly as a Teaching Assistant for MECH 305. The role supports course delivery, grading, and student mentorship throughout the semester. The position is expected to start on August 24, 2026 and requires approximately 10 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up classroom or lab spaces for hands‑on assignments and ensure the Canvas learning environment is ready for online components.
• Assist the instructor with course setup, including uploading materials and managing lab equipment.
• Grade assignments, quizzes, exams, homework and other assessments in a timely and consistent manner.
• Mentor enrolled undergraduates, providing guidance on safety, schedule adherence, and performance standards.

Required profile

• Current Mechanical Engineering student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
• Earned an “A” in MECH 305 or equivalent coursework.
• Research or coursework experience related to the course content is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system.
