Senior Piping Engineer (Freelance) – AutoCAD Plant 3D

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Piping Engineer on a freelance basis to support a leading German industrial plant design company. The role involves working on EPC and EPCM projects across refineries, hydrogen, petrochemical, and energy‑efficiency sectors, collaborating with German and international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D piping models using AutoCAD Plant 3D for process plants.
• Prepare and review general arrangement drawings, isometrics, support details, and material take‑offs.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, and E&I disciplines to ensure design consistency.
• Support layout optimisation, clash detection and constructability reviews.
• Incorporate vendor data and as‑built documentation into the model.
• Participate in internal and client review meetings throughout all project stages, from FEED to detailed design.

Required profile

• Fluent English (spoken and written) for daily communication with German teams.
• Minimum 2 years of project experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering or a related field.
• Solid understanding of piping layouts, materials, components and P&IDs in process industries.
• Ability to read, interpret and develop technical drawings independently.
