Part-Time English Teacher

About the role

The British Council is looking for a motivated part-time English teacher to deliver engaging, high-quality language lessons in Tunisia. The role supports the organisation’s global English strategy and its mission to foster cultural relations through education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver English lessons tailored to diverse learners and learning styles.
• Ensure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards and learner expectations.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and promote learner autonomy.
• Contribute to centre initiatives, course development and material evaluation.
• Participate in team meetings, collaborative activities and support marketing and customer-service tasks.
• Complete all teaching-related administrative duties to required standards.
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and promote intercultural learning.
• Adhere to safeguarding, data protection, EDI, SEN and health-and-safety policies.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree.
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL (minimum global standard).
• English proficiency at C1 level (IELTS 8+ or Cambridge CAE).
• Demonstrated teaching experience aligned with British Council standards across multiple age groups (minimum hours specified).
• Right to live and work in Tunisia and willingness to undergo annual background checks.
