About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified Migration Health Physician to join its Sfax Sub‑Office in Tunisia. Reporting to the Head of Sub‑Office and under the technical guidance of the Migration Health Officer, the physician will deliver clinical services to migrants and vulnerable populations at IOM clinics.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct medical care to migrants, including reviewing medical histories, monitoring vital signs, and conducting thorough physical examinations.
- Interpret X‑rays, laboratory results and other investigations, recommending further tests or referrals as needed.
- Prescribe treatment regimens in line with national standards and ensure appropriate follow‑up and counselling for patients and families.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all patient consultations.
- Facilitate referrals and arrange transportation for critical cases to secondary health facilities or hospitals.
- Act as a medical escort for unwell patients travelling within Tunisia or abroad when required.
- Support national staff (nurses, midwives, paramedics) and coordinate with outreach NGOs, providing technical assistance as needed.
Required profile
- Qualified medical professional (physician) capable of delivering comprehensive clinical care in a migration health setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Commitment to IOM’s mission of humane and orderly migration.
