MHPSS Consultant (National)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia seeks a qualified Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Consultant to join the Migration Health Division. Working under the Migration Health Officer and in close coordination with physicians, nurses and other specialists, the consultant will deliver psychological services to beneficiaries receiving Medical Direct Assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychological and psychosocial assessments of beneficiaries referred through the Migration Health Division’s Medical Direct Assistance, identify needs and urgent cases.
• Provide individual psychological consultations and brief evidence‑informed interventions, offering psycho‑education and coping strategies.
• Carry out follow‑up consultations, coordinate referrals to public or private mental‑health services and ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, advise the medical team on psychosocial considerations and escalate significant concerns.
• Maintain confidential documentation of assessments, interventions and referrals in line with IOM procedures.
• Offer technical input on psychological aspects of Migration Health programmes when requested.

Required profile

• University degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a related field, with professional registration to practice in Tunisia.
• Minimum two years of experience delivering psychological assessment, counselling or psychosocial support, preferably to vulnerable populations.
• Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of French; English is an asset.
