Loss Prevention Officer

About the role

The Loss Prevention Officer ensures the safety of guests, employees and assets by monitoring security systems, responding to incidents and conducting regular safety inspections across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol all areas of the property and assist guests with room access.
• Monitor CCTV, perimeter alarm, duress and fire‑life‑safety systems.
• Lock property entrances when required and conduct daily hazard inspections.
• Respond to accidents, provide first aid/CPR, and contact emergency services.
• Defuse guest or employee disturbances and escort unwelcome persons.
• Complete incident reports, shift summaries and loss‑prevention activity logs.
• Investigate incidents, gather evidence and interview relevant parties.
• Maintain confidentiality of all security and property information.
• Assist guests, including those with disabilities, and ensure a professional appearance.

Required profile

• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb unaided (heavier items with assistance).
• Clear communication skills and professional demeanor.
• Willingness to follow company policies, safety training and confidentiality standards.
• Physical capability to run, jog or move quickly in response to emergencies.

Required skills

• Operation of CCTV monitoring systems.
• Use of perimeter, duress and fire‑life‑safety alarm systems.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Incident reporting and documentation.
• Investigation techniques and evidence collection.
• Computer data entry and basic point‑of‑sale system use.
