Intern - Research Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a motivated Research Assistant Intern to support its office in Tunis. This four‑month hybrid internship offers exposure to urban development projects and the chance to contribute to sustainable city initiatives across the Arab region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and literature reviews for ongoing and upcoming UN‑Habitat projects.
• Prepare analytical reports on thematic issues related to urban sustainability.
• Assist with day‑to‑day program development tasks and identify fund‑mobilisation opportunities.
• Take minutes during meetings with the Head of Office and circulate summaries.
• Perform any additional duties requested by the Head of Office that align with UN‑Habitat’s mandate.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate program, in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or already holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and a personal commitment to sustainable urban development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
