About the role
Visteon is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced automotive electrical systems. You will work within the Electrical Department to deliver reliable, efficient solutions that enhance vehicle performance and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design and development of complex automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, power distribution, and control modules.
- Develop and execute detailed test plans and validation protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to integrate electrical components into vehicle platforms.
- Analyze and troubleshoot electrical system issues using diagnostic tools and simulation software.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best engineering practices.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet program milestones.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance design efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and manufacturability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, test results, and compliance certifications.
- Stay current with emerging automotive electrical technologies and industry trends.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in automotive electrical system design and development, preferably in a Tier 1 supplier or OEM environment.
- Proven knowledge of automotive electrical standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Strong project management track record and experience leading complex engineering projects.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Required skills
- Automotive electrical system design, wiring harness development, power distribution architecture, and electrical schematics.
- Validation, testing, diagnostic methodologies, root‑cause analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Vehicle network protocols: CAN, LIN, FlexRay.
- Simulation and validation tools: MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 and other relevant automotive standards.
