About the role
The Director role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Sousse, Tunisia. You will lead the strategic planning and implementation of disaster risk management programmes, coordinating awareness campaigns, training sessions and community outreach initiatives. The position requires close collaboration with academic institutions, local authorities and subject‑matter experts to deliver high‑impact activities.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee strategic planning and execution of disaster risk management programmes.
- Coordinate awareness campaigns, training sessions and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic institutions, local authorities and experts to design high‑impact activities.
- Manage budgeting, resource allocation and reporting to ensure alignment with organisational goals and compliance requirements.
- Supervise staff and volunteers, monitor programme effectiveness and represent the organisation at meetings and events.
- Develop partnerships to strengthen disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness efforts.
Required profile
- Strong leadership, team management and organisational skills to direct programmes and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in disaster risk management, emergency planning or humanitarian work, with ability to design and evaluate preparedness and mitigation initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder‑engagement skills for working with communities, institutions and partners.
- Proficiency in project management, including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting on programme activities and outcomes.
- Relevant academic background in disaster management, public safety, environmental science, social sciences or a related field.
- Ability to work on‑site in Sousse, Tunisia, with flexibility to attend events, training sessions and community activities.
- Experience organising workshops, seminars and training programmes, preferably in an educational or community setting.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Arabic is an asset for local collaboration.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a commitment to inclusive, gender‑neutral and non‑discriminatory practices.
