Parts Specialist

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers in an O’Reilly Auto Parts store. The role supports store management with daily tasks, ensures accurate parts sales, and delivers a friendly, professional experience both in‑store and over the phone.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and follow company customer‑service programs such as Hi‑5, Low Price Guarantee, and related selling.
• Greet walk‑in customers, assist them in selecting merchandise, and answer phone inquiries with accurate parts lookup and quoting.
• Maintain the cash drawer, process cash, checks, and credit‑card transactions, and handle exchanges and returns per policy.
• Assist managers and installer service specialists with professional‑customer needs.
• Perform daily store operations: freight receipt, stocking, planogram updates, cleaning, and inventory cycle counts.
• Prepare new, core, and warranty merchandise returns for the distribution center.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training.
• Provide in‑store services where permitted, such as wiper installation, battery testing, charging system checks, vehicle trouble‑code scanning, and headlight capsule replacement.
• Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle when business needs require.

Required profile

• Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
• Strong, friendly, professional customer‑service orientation.
• Capacity to multitask, handling phone and in‑store customers simultaneously.
• Familiarity with automotive parts cataloging and the Weatherly index system is desired.
• ASE certification and fluency in Spanish are highly desired.
