Parts Specialist

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers in an O’Reilly Auto Parts store. The role supports store management with daily tasks, assists professional customers, and ensures a friendly, efficient experience for all visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Greet walk‑in customers, answer phone inquiries, and help them select appropriate merchandise.
• Maintain cash drawer accuracy, process payments, and handle exchanges and returns per company policy.
• Perform in‑store services such as installing wipers, testing and charging batteries, scanning vehicle trouble codes, and replacing headlight capsules where legally permitted.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training.
• Assist with inventory tasks: receiving freight, stocking shelves, updating planograms, conducting cycle counts, and preparing merchandise returns.
• Drive a delivery vehicle for occasional deliveries, meeting company driving‑eligibility requirements.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to multitask between phone and in‑store interactions.
• Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences and follow company service programs.
• Willingness to complete all required training and certifications.

Required skills

• Brake lathe operation.
• Automotive diagnostic scanning and trouble‑code reading.
• Battery testing and charging‑system evaluation.
• Headlight capsule replacement.
• Parts cataloging and familiarity with the Weatherly index system.
• ASE certification (preferred).
• Alphanumeric sequence matching.
