Problem Solving Senior Engineer

About the role

Autoliv is seeking a Problem Solving Senior Engineer to lead high‑priority quality investigations and drive continuous improvement across its automotive safety product portfolio. In this role you will coach cross‑functional teams, apply structured problem‑solving methodologies, and ensure corrective actions are validated and sustained.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, high‑priority quality investigations and customer escalations.
• Facilitate and coach cross‑functional teams using 8D and root‑cause analysis tools.
• Perform fact‑based investigations with 5 Why, Ishikawa, PDCA, Fault Tree Analysis and Gemba walks.
• Coordinate testing, data analysis and validation plans to confirm root causes.
• Deliver training on problem‑solving and quality methodologies.
• Support major customer quality issues and Category A investigations.
• Drive lessons learned, Yokoten deployment and best‑practice sharing.
• Update PFMEA, Control Plans, work instructions and training materials.
• Eliminate recurring defects and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Materials, Chemistry, Mechanics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry.
• Fluent English; working knowledge of French is a plus.
• Strong analytical, fact‑based and problem‑solving mindset.
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to influence teams and drive change without direct authority.

Required skills

• 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, PDCA, Fault Tree Analysis, Gemba investigations.
• Six Sigma (Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred), MSA, SPC, Capability Analysis, DOE.
• IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans.
