Technicien(ne) de station d'épuration (STEP)

About the role

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (STEP) Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring and performing first‑level maintenance of the wastewater treatment station to ensure optimal performance and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily operation of the STEP including screens, basins, biological treatment, filtration and UV disinfection.
• Supervise electromechanical equipment such as pumps, agitators, aerators, valves and automatic samplers.
• Detect anomalies, raise immediate alerts and report corrective maintenance needs.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks and log any required interventions.
• Collect and analyse operational parameters (flow, pH, BOD/COD, suspended solids, dissolved oxygen).
• Coordinate sample collection with an accredited external laboratory and manage reagent inventories.
• Maintain daily operation registers and logbooks.
• Ensure compliance with effluent discharge standards and support ISO 14001 environmental audits.
• Enforce health, safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3) in environmental engineering, water treatment or chemistry.
• First experience in operating an industrial wastewater treatment plant is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, autonomy, quick reaction and strict adherence to safety instructions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of biological and physico‑chemical wastewater treatment processes.
• Basic understanding of electromechanics and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
