Local Security Assistant

About the role

The Local Security Assistant supports the Head of Sub‑Office in monitoring security situations in Sfax, providing timely and accurate reports while ensuring compliance with IOM safety and security procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Sub‑Office in daily monitoring of security situations in Sfax and produce regular and flash security reports.
• Maintain networking with security stakeholders in Sfax to ensure IOM programme implementation follows safety and security procedures.
• Accompany the Head of Sub‑Office to security‑related meetings and coordinate follow‑up actions.
• Ensure office access and egress standard operating procedures are applied and that only authorised personnel enter secure areas.
• Support the implementation of audit recommendations for the IOM Safety & Security function.
• Collaborate with other Local Security Assistants and the Head of the Risk Management Unit to guarantee consistent service delivery.
• Maintain professional relations with staff of other UN agencies to exchange security information.

Required profile

• Works under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct guidance of the Head of Sub‑Office.
• Coordinates closely with the Senior Field Security Assistant, Regional Security Officer and the Risk Management Unit.
• Demonstrates a client‑oriented, quality‑focused and results‑driven approach.
• Ability to produce accurate security information and reports in a timely manner.
