Excel Specialist – Remote Contract

About the role

We are looking for an Excel Specialist to become the backbone of our data operations. Working remotely, you will collaborate with finance, marketing and operations teams across Africa to turn raw data into actionable business intelligence through advanced spreadsheet solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel workbooks, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Develop and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from CRMs, ERPs and cloud databases using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Create dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models to support senior management decisions.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors and ensure 100 % data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into clear visual formats and train remote cross‑functional teams on using the tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modelling.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and coordinate across African time zones.

Required skills

• Expert‑level mastery of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• Extensive experience creating VBA macros and custom scripts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and basic SQL querying.
