Sustainable Development Grants & Proposal Associate

About the role

Sunup is seeking a Grants & Proposal Associate to secure funding and amplify impact for its sustainable development programmes. You will translate technical sustainability work into compelling narratives, manage the grant pipeline, and support donor engagement across diverse audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, screen and track funding opportunities from donors, CSR programmes and impact investors.
• Draft and edit concept notes, expressions of interest and full proposals aligned with SDG and ESG standards.
• Collaborate with program, M&E and finance teams to develop narratives, budgets and logical frameworks.
• Create pitch decks, donor briefs, impact stories and presentation materials.
• Support donor meetings, partnership outreach and stakeholder communications.
• Manage grant calendars, deadlines and compliance documentation.
• Assist with donor reporting and archive best practices for institutional learning.
• Research emerging funding trends such as blended finance, green bonds and climate finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Development, Communications, International Development or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising or strategic communications, preferably in the NGO or impact sector.
• Successful track record of at least two funded applications.
• Strong writing, research and storytelling abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using CRM or database tools.
• Familiarity with Asana, Notion and Google Workspace.
• Knowledge of grant management software such as Salesforce NPSP or Fluxx.
