Senior Software Engineer 1 - Automotive Embedded Software

About the role

Visteon is looking for a Senior Software Engineer 1 to join its Software Development team. The role involves designing, developing and optimizing advanced automotive software, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable and safety-compliant software that meets industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software components for automotive applications in line with standards such as ISO 26262.
• Lead software architecture discussions and contribute to system-level design decisions.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects and QA teams to integrate software with automotive hardware platforms.
• Implement and optimize RTOS-based applications to meet performance and safety requirements.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers and enforce best practices in development and documentation.
• Develop and run unit, integration and system tests, and analyze and troubleshoot complex software issues.
• Take part in continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
• Ensure compliance with automotive cybersecurity standards and contribute to threat modeling and risk assessment.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for product certification and customer audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on embedded systems.
• At least 5 years of experience in embedded software development within the automotive industry, preferably with exposure to AUTOSAR and ISO 26262.
