Senior Newsroom Associate - Technology

About the role

A client of Flatgigs, which is evolving from a technology media publication into a technology intelligence platform, is looking for a Senior Newsroom Associate in Tunis. The role supports the daily newsroom that produces timely, accurate technology coverage, focusing on English-language stories while using Arabic sources to enrich the reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Produce 3-4 daily technology news stories and short-form editorial pieces, covering technology, AI, fintech, startups, business, policy and emerging markets.
• Research developments and announcements from credible English and Arabic sources, fact-check and verify them, then write clear, original English coverage.
• Update stories when new information appears and flag developments for the editor-in-chief and editorial team.
• Monitor Arabic-language sources, extract relevant information and cross-check it with English sources.
• Contribute to digital magazine and longer-form editorial projects, including features, analysis and intelligence-focused content.
• Upload and format articles, maintain editorial calendars and deadlines, support basic SEO and GEO, and help with newsletters and other editorial content.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of experience in journalism, content writing, media, communications or a related field.
• Excellent English writing skills, with good Arabic comprehension of source material (no need to be an Arabic journalist or translator).
• Strong research and fact-checking skills, attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
• Interest in technology, AI, startups, fintech and emerging markets; able to work independently and manage several pieces at once.

Required skills

• Writing clear, publication-ready English copy.
• Basic understanding of SEO/GEO and familiarity with CMS platforms are advantages.
