Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are a leading technology group in Italy, acting as a Business & Technology Accelerator for companies, financial institutions, and public sector organisations. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will be the core builder of our AI‑driven SaaS platform, working closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and data scientists to deliver fast, reliable backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement complex business logic, validation, data persistence and error handling.
• Architect and optimise PostgreSQL schemas, queries, migrations and indexes for high performance.
• Ensure strict data isolation in a multi‑tenant environment and implement robust authentication and authorization.
• Integrate backend services with intensive data‑processing workflows and AI‑driven outputs.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Provide realistic estimates, raise technical risks and help shape engineering direction.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience building backend services for SaaS applications.
• Strong judgment to balance technical excellence with rapid product evolution.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
