Project Buyer

About the role

LEONI is seeking a Project Buyer to manage purchasing activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from customer RFQ to end‑of‑life. The role supports the development of complex wiring systems and cable harnesses for the automotive sector, ensuring cost‑effective material sourcing and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing tasks from RFQ through SOP to EOL in line with company standards.
• Conduct global sourcing for new components, technologies and suppliers in collaboration with development and category management.
• Analyse and edit Bills of Material (BOMs) to guarantee cost competitiveness and alignment with project targets.
• Lead make‑or‑buy decisions, negotiate costs and conditions, and monitor total cost of ownership.
• Develop purchasing concepts, business plans, and risk assessments for customer projects.
• Identify and implement cost‑reduction opportunities using negotiation, VAVE, localization and other levers.
• Draft and manage project‑specific supplier agreements and support supplier qualification and release processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project‑based purchasing or procurement within an industrial or automotive environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to evaluate material costs and drive cost‑saving initiatives.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with development, quality and category teams.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
