Mid/Senior Data Engineer (GCP & Spark)

About the role

Yassir, the leading super‑app in the Maghreb region, is expanding its financial services platform and needs a skilled Data Engineer to build and operate a centralized data lake on Google Cloud. You will work closely with AI/ML, product, and business teams to enable data‑driven decision making across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a GCP‑based data lake integrating diverse enterprise data sources.
• Develop, maintain, and optimise Spark‑powered batch and streaming pipelines using Dataproc, Dataflow and related services.
• Create data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to provide data for model development and monitoring.
• Partner with analysts, operations, marketing and commercial teams to extract insights and support data‑driven decisions.
• Design analytical data models with product teams and manage ETL/ELT processes.
• Investigate and resolve data issues, performing root‑cause analysis when needed.
• Participate in technology research, PoC development and Gen‑AI initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills, able to translate technical concepts into clear visual messages.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to mentor junior team members.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and contribute to team development initiatives.

Required skills

• PySpark (batch & streaming)

• NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred)
• Programming languages: Scala, Python
• Data quality frameworks (Great Expectations or similar)
• Workflow orchestration tools: Airflow, Prefect or Luigi
• Data governance, warehousing and modelling concepts
