MHPSS Consultant (Type B) – National

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Consultant (Type B) to join its Migration Health Division in Sfax, Tunisia. The consultant will provide psychological assessments, brief interventions, and follow‑up care to beneficiaries receiving Medical Direct Assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychological and psychosocial assessments, identify needs, and flag urgent cases for referral.
• Deliver individual counselling, psycho‑education, and evidence‑informed brief interventions in a culturally sensitive, trauma‑informed manner.
• Coordinate follow‑up consultations, referrals to specialised services, and ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, providing psychological input for case planning and escalation of significant concerns.
• Maintain confidential documentation of assessments, interventions, and referrals in line with IOM procedures.

Required profile

• University degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a related field.
• Professional registration or licensing to practice psychology in Tunisia (if applicable).
• Minimum two years of experience in psychological assessment, counselling, or psychosocial support, preferably with vulnerable populations.

• Strong psychological assessment and counselling abilities.
• Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable beneficiaries and to identify and escalate urgent concerns.
• Excellent documentation, organisational, and follow‑up skills.
