Knowledge Specialist, Global Market Access

About the role

As a Knowledge Specialist in Global Market Access (GMA), you will support UL’s GMA team by monitoring and interpreting automotive regulations worldwide, providing regulatory guidance to internal and external stakeholders, and helping customers achieve compliance across global markets.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary expert contact for automotive regulatory and compliance requirements related to global market access.
• Monitor, analyze, and communicate changes in automotive regulations, standards, and certification requirements.
• Support research and consulting projects covering multiple countries, regulations, and automotive product categories.
• Provide regulatory guidance for vehicle systems, components, and emerging automotive technologies.
• Assist customers and internal teams in understanding regulatory requirements and market‑access pathways.
• Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, technical services, and industry stakeholders.
• Prepare regulatory summaries, impact assessments, compliance analyses, and market‑access guidance documents.
• Support GMA business expansion initiatives and track related opportunities and outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive regulations, homologation, certification, conformity assessment, or global market access.
• Strong knowledge of global automotive regulatory frameworks such as UNECE Regulations, EU type‑approval, FMVSS/NHTSA, and other major international systems.
• Understanding of vehicle safety, EMC, cybersecurity, software updates, connected vehicles, ADAS, electric vehicles, batteries, and related vehicle systems.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into customer needs and business opportunities.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
