Head of Systems

About the role

The Head of Systems will own CC Moneybase’s entire infrastructure portfolio, spanning cloud, on‑premises, networks and corporate IT. This senior leader will set strategic direction while providing hands‑on guidance to resolve complex technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the infrastructure roadmap aligned with the CEO, covering modernisation, automation, resilience and cost optimisation.
• Manage the infrastructure budget, licences, vendor relationships and cost efficiency.
• Lead, coach and develop the IT Systems Manager and two systems engineers, building a culture of ownership and documentation.
• Oversee Microsoft Azure estate – VMs, networking, storage, Entra ID and governance – and drive monthly cost optimisation.
• Manage VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter environments, hybrid connectivity and lifecycle of physical and virtual assets.
• Maintain secure Linux servers across cloud and on‑premises, handling patching, hardening and performance tuning.
• Direct corporate IT services, end‑user computing, identity and access management using Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
• Ensure infrastructure availability, backup and disaster recovery, and provide evidence of resilience to risk and compliance teams.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible and automate routine operations.
• Evaluate AI‑driven security and monitoring tools to improve configuration compliance and incident response.

Required profile

• 8+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering, with at least 3 years leading a team.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, Entra ID, governance, cost management).
• Deep knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter in production environments.
• Proficient Linux administration and working knowledge of Windows Server.
• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate (or equivalent) firewalls and high‑availability load balancers.
• Proven track record implementing Infrastructure as Code in production.
• Experience with Cloudflare (or similar) edge, DNS and WAF platforms.
• Ability to communicate technical risk and trade‑offs clearly to non‑technical executives.
