Geoscience Consultant

About the role

The Geoscience Consultant acts as a technical authority and strategic advisor within the Exploration & Production division, driving subsurface evaluation, prospect generation, risk assessment, and resource estimation across the full asset lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integrated geological and geophysical interpretation of 2D/3D seismic, well logs, core data and regional studies to identify and mature exploration prospects.
• Develop and maintain detailed geological models, including structural, stratigraphic and sedimentological frameworks for key basins.
• Generate and rank exploration prospect portfolios, quantifying volumetrics (GRV, STOIIP, GIIP) and geological risk using probabilistic methods.
• Conduct basin analysis, source‑rock evaluation and petroleum‑systems modelling with tools such as PetroMod or BasinMod.
• Perform advanced seismic interpretation using Petrel, Kingdom or OpendTect, including attribute analysis, AVO/DHI and inversion studies.
• Provide geoscientific input to well planning, monitor drilling operations and update models with real‑time formation evaluation data.
• Prepare PRMS‑compliant resource estimates and represent findings in CPRs and regulatory submissions.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level geoscientists, supporting their professional development.

Required profile

• Strong background in exploration geology and geophysics, preferably within the oil & gas sector.
• Proven experience in integrated subsurface interpretation and geological modelling.
• Ability to quantify uncertainties and conduct risk‑based portfolio analysis.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including petrophysics, reservoir engineering and drilling.

Required skills

• PetroMod or BasinMod for petroleum‑systems modelling.
• Petrel, Kingdom or OpendTect for seismic interpretation.
• Monte Carlo simulation for uncertainty quantification.
• PRMS‑compliant resource estimation methodology.
