Freelance Part‑Time Backend Engineer – Django & AWS (Tunisia)

About the role

We are looking for a freelance part‑time Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain the backend services of our AI‑driven sales intelligence platform. The role is based in Tunisia, with a hybrid arrangement that combines onsite work in Tunis and remote days.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise RESTful APIs using Django.
• Integrate and process data from multiple external sources in real time.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, including EC2, RDS, Lambda and S3.
• Ensure backend systems are secure, scalable and performant.
• Collaborate with product and data teams to support real‑time data pipelines and troubleshoot production issues.

Required profile

• Strong back‑end development experience with Django and Python.
• Solid understanding of OOP, clean‑code principles and design patterns.
• Proficiency with Git and automated testing frameworks.
• Basic front‑end knowledge to work effectively with front‑end engineers.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services and cloud‑best practices.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, performance tuning and security best practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication skills and ability to work independently in a hybrid setting.
• Based in Tunisia and able to commute to Tunis when required.
