Electrical Technician – Solar & Hybrid Power Systems

About the role
We are looking for a skilled Electrical Technician specialized in solar and hybrid power systems to support the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). The role involves designing, operating, maintaining, and optimizing conventional and renewable hybrid power generation assets while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design, install, commission and maintain diesel‑solar‑battery hybrid power generation systems.
- Operate and maintain electrical distribution networks, including generators, switchgear, inverters, control panels and protection devices.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair faults to minimise downtime and ensure reliable power supply.
- Conduct load assessments, distortion analysis, fault finding and energy optimisation studies.
- Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for all electrical and energy assets.
- Monitor system performance using data‑collection tools and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, NEC or equivalent codes, RA International QHSE policies and UN operational procedures.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings, reports and maintenance logs.
- Provide training and technical support to local or junior technicians.
- Support energy transition initiatives by integrating renewable technologies and improving system efficiency.
Required profile
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in power generation, including solar PV and hybrid systems.
- Hands‑on experience with off‑grid, grid‑tied and battery‑based configurations.
- Ability to work independently in remote or field environments while maintaining high safety standards.
