Communications Assistant – UN Youth Volunteer

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Communications Assistant on a UN Youth Volunteer assignment in Kairouan, Tunisia. The role supports the Aghlabides Medical City Project by enhancing visibility, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness of project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Implement communication and visibility activities aligned with project objectives and UN standards.
• Draft, adapt and produce articles, news stories, presentations, social‑media posts and awareness‑raising materials.
• Collect testimonials, success stories and impact data for dissemination.
• Update and manage digital platforms, including websites and social‑media channels.
• Assist with content publication, archiving and distribution of communication resources.
• Facilitate coordination and information sharing among partners, beneficiaries and stakeholders.
• Prepare communication materials for meetings, events and outreach campaigns.
• Document workshops, events and project activities through written, photographic and audiovisual formats.
• Support media engagement initiatives to raise the profile of the project and UN‑Habitat.
• Monitor communication activities and compile audience‑reach and engagement metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, social sciences or a related field.
• Up to one year of relevant experience in communications, media, journalism, public relations, advocacy or public information.
• Experience in development communication or stakeholder engagement is an asset.
• Strong writing, content development and information‑management abilities.
• Familiarity with digital communication platforms and social‑media management.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in Arabic, English and French.
