Clerk – Front Desk

About the role

The Front Desk Clerk is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for smooth check‑in and check‑out processes, handling payments, and providing accurate information about the property and local area.

Key responsibilities

• Process guest check‑ins by confirming reservations, assigning rooms, and issuing keys.
• Handle all payment types, including cash, checks, debit and credit cards.
• Manage check‑outs, resolve late or disputed charges, and prepare cashier and closing reports.
• Answer guest calls, record requests, and coordinate with Housekeeping for room readiness.
• Provide parking information, dispatch bell or valet staff, and give directions to local attractions.
• Run daily arrival/departure reports, verify special requests, and ensure report accuracy.
• Count bank at shift start/end, balance receipts, and follow accounting procedures.
• Follow safety, security, and company policies, maintain professional appearance, and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• No prior experience required; ability to learn front‑desk procedures.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 10 lb without assistance.
• Clear, professional communication skills and courteous telephone etiquette.
• Ability to develop positive working relationships and comply with quality standards.
