Senior Road Safety Campaigns & Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural change campaigns targeting vulnerable road users across the ECOWAS region. The role will support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance project aimed at building safer, more inclusive mobility systems in West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement road safety awareness campaigns and behavioural change initiatives for vulnerable users.
• Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach programmes and stakeholder engagement.
• Integrate gender‑sensitive and inclusive considerations into transport policies and road safety programmes.
• Develop communication materials, awareness tools and public information campaigns.
• Prepare road safety studies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with transport authorities, civil society, educational institutions, media and development partners.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities on road safety communication.
• Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of campaign effectiveness.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in road safety campaigns, public awareness programmes or social inclusion projects.
• Proven experience on transport or road safety projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
