Senior Data Engineer

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will lead the architecture, quality, and reliability of data pipelines and models for retail partners such as Walmart, Target, and Amazon. This technical leader works with product managers, analysts, and platform engineers to deliver high‑performance data products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own data architecture for complex, multi‑domain data products and evolve warehouse structures.
• Architect and maintain semantic and metadata layers for governed, scalable data access.
• Lead technical design reviews, set engineering quality standards, and enforce testing, code review, and documentation norms.
• Optimize cloud warehouse performance through query tuning, sizing, materialization, and cost management.
• Build advanced transformation patterns using dbt macros, reusable packages, and incremental strategies.
• Design orchestration architectures ensuring reliability, observability, and SLA compliance.
• Mentor junior data engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics engineering.
• Expert SQL skills with advanced query optimization for cloud data warehouses.
• Strong analytical data modeling experience (dimensional, slowly changing dimensions, data vault).
• Production experience with dbt and Airflow for transformation and orchestration.
• Advanced Python programming for production data workloads.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and version‑control best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise team quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and ability to collaborate with U.S. teams across time zones.
