QA Automation Engineer

About the role

We build platforms for government and enterprise operations where any regression can become a public failure. As a QA Automation Engineer you will own the automated test coverage that ensures these platforms remain reliable, including end‑to‑end, API, performance and accessibility tests that run on every change.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain end‑to‑end suites for web applications with Playwright or Cypress across browsers and mobile viewports.
• Write API and integration tests for REST services, covering contracts, authentication, error paths and edge cases.
• Extend unit and component coverage alongside developers.
• Keep test suites fast and deterministic by isolating state, controlling test data and eliminating flakiness.
• Run all suites in CI (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps) on pull requests, before releases and as smoke tests after deployment.
• Provide clear failure artifacts such as traces, screenshots, videos and actionable reports.
• Gate releases on quality signals and maintain trustworthy release gates.
• Manage test environments and data with Docker and disposable databases.
• Perform performance and load testing with k6, JMeter or Locust, establishing baselines and catching regressions.
• Conduct accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
• Implement security‑adjacent checks including dependency and image scanning, and authentication/authorisation test cases.
• Test AI features with evaluation sets, retrieval quality checks and regression harnesses for prompts and RAG pipelines.
• Own the overall test strategy, write reproducible bug reports and follow them to resolution.
• Participate early in design and code reviews to address testing concerns at the design stage.
• Document how to run, extend and debug test suites to ensure long‑term maintainability.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in test automation, QA engineering or SDET roles.
• Strong programming skills in at least one of Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java or C#.
• Hands‑on experience with a modern browser automation framework such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.
• Experience testing REST APIs, including authentication flows, using Postman/Newman or code‑driven approaches.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI or Jenkins).
• Solid understanding of testing fundamentals: test design, boundary and negative cases, risk‑based prioritisation, test pyramid.
• Ability to write and verify SQL queries against databases.
• Daily use of Git and code‑review processes.
• Proven ability to diagnose and eliminate flaky tests.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
