Project Buyer - Automotive Sourcing

About the role

Hutchinson, a global mobility group with 4 billion euros of turnover and 40,000 employees in 25 countries, is looking for a Project Buyer. The role sources all Bill of Materials (BOM) components for the project under its responsibility, in line with the Activity Purchasing policy, to optimise Quality, Cost, Delivery and Innovation (QCDI) performance, and also costs the BOM components of customer RFQs.

Key responsibilities

• Source Project BOM components according to the Commodity Leaders strategy guidelines and suppliers' panel
• Work with the Purchasing and Project communities to identify product rationalisation opportunities, evaluate savings and apply them
• Coordinate with ASQ on the feasibility analysis of sourced components with suppliers taking part in the bidding process
• Negotiate prices with suppliers and lead the Sourcing Committee to select awarded suppliers together with project stakeholders
• Lead the kick-off meeting with nominated suppliers, issue orders or provide sample requirements to the plants
• Monitor BOM component pricing against the initial business plan costing and supplier readiness against project milestones, managing risks on cost, quality and delivery
• Run a lessons learned meeting with the project and purchasing communities and transfer the sourcing file to the Plant Buyers 6 months after SOP, including contract amendment requirements
• Partner with ASQ to deploy APQP on all BOM components and report project KPIs to the Project Purchasing Manager and Project Managers

Required profile

• High business school or Master's degree in engineering with a specialisation in international purchasing
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same level of position in an industrial environment
• English imperative; French or German is a plus
