PLC Specialist – Automation & Control Engineer

About the role

The PLC Specialist will design, program and optimise the control systems of production equipment. You will be responsible for integrating PLCs with the company’s MES platform and ensuring reliable, sustainable operation across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Design and program PLC control logic, including GRAFCET sequential charts.
• Participate in the automation rollout plan, deploying MES connections and digital applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve PLC‑related reliability issues, ensuring continuous operation.
• Apply IProM and Lean Process Design methodologies for large automation projects.
• Perform functional analysis, design electrical and pneumatic schematics, and support equipment ramp‑up.
• Create technical specifications, manage subcontractors, and monitor equipment performance (QCDM).
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives: cycle‑time reduction, MTTR improvement, and risk mitigation.
• Transfer knowledge to production and maintenance teams and participate in QRQC activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, LOTO and 5S standards, and conduct benchmarking of new technologies.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of industrial automation processes and IProM procedures.
• Experience in functional analysis, equipment performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Ability to design electrical and pneumatic layouts and manage subcontractors.
• Proactive attitude towards safety, risk mitigation and knowledge sharing.

Required skills

• PLC programming (including GRAFCET).
• MES integration and digital application deployment.
• Electrical and pneumatic design.
• Functional analysis and Lean Process Design.
• Performance monitoring (QCDM) and MTTR improvement.
• QRQC participation, LOTO, 5S and benchmarking.
