Plant Manager - Textile Operations Director (Greenfield Launch, Tunisia)

About the role

A company is launching a new garment manufacturing facility in Tunisia and is looking for a Plant Director to lead the project from Phase 0 over a 9-month period. The role has full autonomy to design the industrial layout, select the team and set production standards, with direct communication with headquarters, executive ownership and international partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise the greenfield setup: machinery installation, plant layout design and initial line balancing for cutting and sewing operations, coordinating equipment suppliers, installation technicians and local contractors.
• Design operational workflows: implement work-study engineering, time measurement, line balancing and workstation standardization, using Lean Manufacturing, 5S and VSM.
• Track key performance indicators such as OEE, productivity, fabric scrap reduction and operational costs.
• Build and lead the workforce: draw up the factory org chart and take part in recruiting, selecting and training middle management and direct labour, ensuring compliance with Tunisian labour, health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Textile Engineering, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent technical field; an MBA or Lean Six Sigma / PMP certification is an asset.
• At least 8 years of operational leadership or plant management experience in the textile and finished garment sector.
• Proven experience managing plants with 300 to 1,000 employees.
• Fluent or native French on site, with professional Spanish or English for strategic alignment with corporate management.
