Migration Health Nurse

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a qualified Migration Health Nurse to support urgent health services for migrants and refugees in Zarzis. Working under the Head of Sub‑office and the migration health physician, you will ensure essential clinical care, disease prevention, and safe medical movement throughout the migration process.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medical examinations, record vital signs, anthropometric measurements, visual acuity, and collect blood, urine, or sputum samples.
• Assist in TB management, including Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) and infection‑prevention measures.
• Support pre‑departure health procedures, documentation, certification, and safe transport of samples to laboratories.
• Liaise with laboratory services, receive results promptly, and maintain accurate health records.
• Provide migrants with information on chest X‑ray, immunization, sputum testing, and referrals to public or private health facilities.
• Perform comprehensive history taking, biodata collection, ID verification, and maintain registers of health assessments.
• Assist in medical emergencies, chronic case management, arrange specialist consultations, and perform medical escort duties when required.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with experience in public health or migration health settings.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and follow standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping and data entry.
