Mechanical Engineer – Plastic Parts Development

About the role

SEGULA Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of plastic components for automotive projects. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to ensure parts meet functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze work requests, vehicle constraints and mechanical environments to identify potential design challenges.
• Design 3D models of plastic parts using Catia V5 or Siemens NX, focusing on part design and generative shape design.
• Optimize part thickness, surface stitching, and edge refinements to control shrinkage and improve demouldability.
• Define fixed points, reference systems and ensure proper integration of parts within the mechanical assembly.
• Perform proximity analysis and clash detection, and produce 2D drawings (Catia V5 Drawing) with functional dimensioning for internal and supplier use.
• Collaborate with mold suppliers, supporting mold development and slide‑movement integration for complex geometries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plastic injection‑moulded part development.
• Strong knowledge of injection‑moulding constraints and demouldability rules.
• Ability to work with suppliers and manage technical specifications throughout the development cycle.

Required skills

• Plastic injection moulding expertise.
• Catia V5 (Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Drawing).
• Siemens NX (Part Design, Generative Shape Design).
• PLM tool usage (preferred).
• Proximity analysis and clash detection.
