Head of Automation (Tunisia)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Automation to lead the automation and digital transformation of our manufacturing plant in Tunisia. You will define and execute the automation strategy, driving Industry 4.0 initiatives and smart factory solutions within an international automotive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the plant’s automation strategy aligned with global standards.
• Drive the automation roadmap across production, logistics, and supporting processes (Industry 4.0, IoT, data integration).
• Identify, prioritize, and implement automation and digitalization opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Lead automation projects from concept to implementation, including business case definition and ROI tracking.
• Establish and develop automation infrastructure (machine connectivity, data collection, MES integration) to ensure transparent KPIs.
• Ensure stable operation of automated systems and integrate them with maintenance and production.
• Build, lead, and develop the local automation/industrial engineering/digitalization team.
• Act as the technical authority for automation topics and drive capability building across the organization.

Required profile

• University degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a comparable field.
• Several years of professional experience in automation within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or high‑volume production.
• Proven track record of implementing automation or digitalization projects.
• Leadership experience managing technical teams at head or lead level.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a pragmatic mindset.
• Intercultural competence and willingness to work in an international setting.
• Fluent in English (mandatory).
