ET Consultant – 1-year contract in Tunis

About the role

The World Bank is seeking an ET Consultant for a one‑year fixed‑term assignment in Tunis. The role supports the Social Policy Global Practice within the MENAAP region, delivering evidence‑based solutions to improve livelihoods and job creation across 22 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of roughly 20 development projects worth about US$7 billion in net commitments.
• Design and oversee implementation of social safety‑net programmes, including cash transfers, public‑works, and social‑care services.
• Provide technical advice on social insurance schemes such as pensions, unemployment and disability benefits.
• Support labor‑market and youth‑employment initiatives, including active labour‑market programmes and regulatory reforms.
• Coordinate with country teams, donors and partners to ensure alignment with World Bank policies and regional development goals.

Required profile

• Fluency in English and French.
• Local recruitment for a one‑year term based in Tunis.
• Professional experience in social policy, development consulting or related fields.
• Familiarity with the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAAP) context.

Required skills

• Knowledge of social safety‑net design and implementation.
• Experience with cash‑transfer and public‑works programmes.
• Understanding of social insurance mechanisms and labour‑market policies.
