Customs Declarant

About the role

King Maritime is seeking a Customs Declarant to join its Tunis office. You will act as the key liaison between the company, its clients, and Tunisian customs authorities, ensuring smooth import and export flows.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, draft, and submit accurate customs declarations via the TTN (Tunisia TradeNet) platform.
• Classify goods using correct HS codes, determine origin, and validate valuation.
• Stay up‑to‑date with Tunisian customs laws, foreign trade regulations, and international maritime procedures.
• Represent the company during physical cargo inspections and defend client interests.
• Review shipping documents (bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, certificates of origin) for completeness before submission.
• Resolve customs blocks or disputes and advise internal teams on duty optimization and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience as a customs declarant in a shipping agency, freight forwarder, or logistics firm.
• Degree in Transport/Logistics, International Trade, Customs Law or related field.
• Official customs declarant certification/license (Agrément) is a strong advantage.
• Fluent in French and Arabic; professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the TTN (Tunisia TradeNet) system.
• Deep knowledge of Tunisian customs regulations and tariff classification.
• Expertise in HS code classification.
• Understanding of maritime shipping terminology and Incoterms.
