Travel Management Specialist / Lead Specialist

About the role

The Travel Management Specialist (or Lead Specialist) will design, implement and maintain global travel policies, processes and standards for LEONI. This role ensures compliance across all locations, provides training, and supports local teams in efficient and risk‑aware business travel.

Key responsibilities

• Create and roll out global travel processes, policies and standards, including expense reimbursement.
• Monitor local travel standards to ensure alignment with global policies and tools.
• Develop training concepts, materials and deliver sessions on travel topics.
• Advise local teams on travel program implementation and support compliance and due‑diligence in bookings.
• Coordinate travel alerts, EU/A1 postings and manage external providers for travel advice, booking and risk mitigation (e.g., International SOS).
• Research global trends, digitalisation opportunities and benchmark best practices to continuously improve travel management.
• Define, consolidate and analyse travel key figures, ensure data quality and produce global travel reports and statistics.
• Support local travel management teams with guidance and information.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of the business travel value chain (air, rail, accommodation, rental, suppliers, booking conditions, visa regulations, passenger rights).
• Basic understanding of local legal regulations related to expense reimbursement, working hours and taxation.
• Proficiency in English (minimum C1) and German (minimum C1).
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to challenge and improve existing processes.
• Collaboration and communication skills to work with global and local stakeholders.

Required skills

• MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Travel and expense management tools (online booking, EU registration platforms).
• Basic SAP HR knowledge (preferred).
• Understanding of EU data‑protection standards.
• Basic reporting and data visualisation for travel cost and behaviour analysis.
