Senior Accountant (محاسب أول) – Remote (Tunisia)

About the role

The organization is a progressive independent media outlet serving the Arab‑speaking world. It seeks a senior accountant to lead its financial operations remotely from Tunisia, ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and transparent reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Update and upgrade the accounting system and function.
• Create the annual budget in collaboration with the Managing Director.
• Participate in financial planning, cash‑flow forecasting and strategic budgeting.
• Prepare periodic budget‑vs‑actual and funder reports.
• Produce financial statements, interpret results and flag discrepancies.
• Handle all bookkeeping tasks and oversee financial solutions implementation.
• Develop and improve accounting policies and protocols.
• Coordinate with an external accounting firm on payroll and annual accounts.
• Prepare reports for external auditors and resolve audit findings.
• Secure accounting data through regular backups.
• Perform ad‑hoc administrative tasks assigned by the Managing Director.
• Liaise with external legal resources when required.

Required profile

• Solid experience in accounting, financial planning and reporting.
• Ability to manage full financial operations independently.
• Fluency in Arabic (written and spoken); proficiency in English and German is a plus.
