Project Associate – Immigration and Border Governance

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Associate to support the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) programme. The role focuses on implementing and monitoring project activities, ensuring effective reporting, communication, and coordination with partners and internal units.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementation and monitoring of project activities, with emphasis on M&E, reporting, communication and project development.
• Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse and present data on specific project topics.
• Monitor project budget, verify fund availability, obtain approvals and update budget information.
• Serve as focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with procurement, finance and external service providers.
• Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, escalate issues and suggest remedial actions.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables and presentations.
• Respond to complex information requests, maintain files/records and organise meetings and workshops.
• Participate in meetings with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and other stakeholders.
• Monitor work of Implementing Partners and report non‑compliances.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background (e.g., social sciences, international development, public administration).
• Experience in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, budgeting and administrative coordination.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Ability to work with diverse organisational units and external partners.
